Membership
Membership
is open to both men and women over the age of 18.
What
do League members do?
Members study issues, take positions on them and mobilize resources
to turn those positions into public policies. They keep voters informed
about issues at all levels of government so we can act not just
react. League members actively support political issues, never candidates
although members are encouraged to work as individuals with their
political parties. Members conduct candidate forums and educational
workshops; pass petitions; compile and print voter guides; lobby
at local, state and national levels; register voters; answer thousands
of phone calls; staff a Speakers' Bureau and conduct Get Out the
Voters drives.
What
does the League offer you?
As a member of the League of Women Voters, you will be better informed:
information will keep you one step ahead. Through your participation
you will learn or enhance skills such as research, discussion leading,
publishing, lobbying and leadership. You will meet the people who
make things happen in our community. You will make your voice heard
on all levels of government. You will have influence. When the League
speaks, lawmakers listen. You will meet stimulating people and form
new friendships. You will help create the laws we all live by and
help other citizens learn more about our government. As an added
member benefit, all League members receive The National Voter magazine
and local and state League newsletters, plus significant discounts
on publications, videos and other valuable resources.
